Patience Ozokwor a celebrated Nollywood star will be the guest star at the UFF 2014 launch. Patience will give a keynote and later network with invited film industry stakeholders.

Born on March 25, 1958 from a humble family in Ngwo, Enugu, Nigeria, Ozokwo is not wicked in real life. Her village is Amaobo. She caught the bug for acting during her school years when she played the role of Hamlet in Shakespeare’s classic drama, Hamlet in an all girl’s school.

Married at 19, Patience continued to seek further education, and a career in teaching and broadcasting. Afterwards she began to audition for acting roles, at first small ones and then larger and larger roles, until her career was launched.

Patience went on to star in movies playing wife and mother roles. So successful was her role as Mother General, MaMa G, in Old School, the public began referring to her as MaMa G and thus gave birth to her stage name.

Patience has been in over 200 movies till date. These include: I Need a Husband (2007), In the Name of the Lord (2007), After My Heart  (2008), Battle of Religion   (2008), Act of Faith  (2008), A Date with Destiny (2009), Web of Mistake (2009), Love in Berlin (2009), Scent of a Woman (2010), Buried in Heaven (2010), Total Sin (2010), Power of a Kiss (2011), Sisters at War (2010), Blood on Fire (2011), Sisters on Fire (2011), and A Dance for the Prince (2011).

It is obvious that MaMa G has a lot of love in her heart and a creative bent. That’s the profile of the guest speaker at the launch of UFF2014, whose theme is “Empowering Ugandans through Film”. The festival aims to showcase what the local film industry is doing, generate interest in the Ugandan film industry both locally and internationally, and to bring all the industry players together in a more focused and structured environment.
